Support for scientific excellence and innovation capacities of universities

July 11, 2025

As part of the international conference SpliTech 2025, the Horizon Europe summer school of the twinning project AIoTwin was held. The focus of the summer school was the convergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), and ENT expert Tomislav Grgić was one of the three keynote speakers with a presentation on IoT and AI-based network technologies that enable the evolution towards 6G.

The conference covers the key areas of smart environments, energy, engineering modeling, the Internet of Things (IoT) and e-health, and is organized by the Split Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FESB) in cooperation with IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization in the field of electrical engineering and computing. This year’s anniversary 10th conference brought together scientists, experts and industry representatives from more than 40 countries around the world with an exceptionally high-quality scientific program that included more than 250 accepted papers and interesting side events.
The AIoTwin project is aimed at spreading excellence in the Artificial Intelligence of Things created by the convergence of AI and IoT technologies, and, in addition to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb, it brings together some of the strongest European technological universities and research institutions: Technische Universität Wien (TUW), Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) and Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE).

By participating in the AIoTwin project summer school as an invited lecturer from the industry, Tomislav Grgić, ENT Customer Solutions Manager, contributed to strengthening the scientific excellence and innovation capacities of FER in the field of Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, which is the goal of this project, thus confirming the strategic partnership between ENT and FER.
