Panel on Research Security Held in Zagreb

A panel discussion titled “R&D Security Threats in the University and Industrial Setting” was organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing of the University of Zagreb (FER) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Croatia. The event focused on the growing challenges of research security and knowledge protection in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.

Antonia Kujundžić Velimirović, Director of IT and Security at Ericsson Nikola Tesla, participated as one of the panelists.

The discussion highlighted key issues related to safeguarding knowledge, technology, and international research cooperation amid global shifts. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of a systematic approach to research security and strengthening cooperation between academia, industry and the public sector, the so‑called triple helix model.

Speaking about the challenges of knowledge protection in an environment of rapid technological development and intensive international cooperation, Antonia Kujundžić Velimirović underscored the importance of a structured and strategic approach to managing risks in research and development.

The event brought together numerous representatives from academia, industry, and government institutions from Croatia and abroad, fostering dialogue on the importance of responsible knowledge management, strengthening international cooperation, and developing capacities for assessing and managing security risks in research and development.
