Inventorium Day 2025: Strengthening innovation partnerships between industry and academia

November 25, 2025

On Thursday, 20 November 2025, Inventorium Day was held at the company Ericsson Nikola Tesla. It is an event dedicated to the presentation of the joint research and innovation activities of Ericsson Nikola Tesla and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). The event once again confirmed the important role of Inventorium, a joint laboratory of ENT and FER, as a center for the development of advanced technologies and an example of successful connections between academia and industry.

At the start of the program Siniša Krajnović, PhD, President of the Management Board of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, and Prof. Vedran Bilas, PhD, Dean of FER, addressed the attendees, as well as Andrej Grgurić, PhD, Director of Research at ENT, who gave an introductory speech. They highlighted their long-standing cooperation, which spans more than six decades, as well as Inventorium’s strategic role in the development of new knowledge, technologies and innovative solutions. Krajnović emphasized that in just a year and a half, Inventorium has grown into a dynamic environment that simultaneously acts as a technological laboratory and idea incubator in which new technologies are shaped through the joint work of students, professors, and experts.

Inventorium is equipped with modern equipment and is intended for interdisciplinary work, bringing together experts, professors, mentors and students who work together on projects in the fields of telecommunications, 5G networks, the Internet of Things, intelligent systems, extended reality (XR), data science, artificial intelligence and digital twins.

During the event, selected research projects and prototype solutions in the fields of radio technologies, communication security, open RAN architecture, advanced IoT systems, data science, machine learning and generative AI technologies were presented, as well as solutions for communication and interaction in XR environments. The presentations showed how Inventorium is becoming a key incubator of interdisciplinary initiatives and a place where complex technological concepts are developed into concrete demos and innovations.

The role of Inventorium in attracting and developing young experts was especially highlighted. Thanks to the active involvement of students in projects, doctoral programs, research initiatives and prototype development, Inventorium contributes to the strengthening of the STEM ecosystem in Croatia and the creation of talented engineers and researchers for the future of the ICT industry.
