Excellent final evaluation for the TRUSTEE project

The TRUSTEE (Trust and Privacy Preserving Computing Platform for Cross-Border Federation of Data) Horizon Europe project, which focused on the development of a platform enabling secure and trusted cross-border federation, sharing and analysis of data from different sectors while preserving privacy, and in which ENT was one of the partners, has recently received an excellent final evaluation from the European Commission following its successful completion after three and a half years of work.

TRUSTEE developed an innovative framework that enables the integration of heterogeneous data sources from healthcare, education, energy, the space industry, the automotive industry and other sectors, while preserving data privacy and security through the application of advanced technologies such as homomorphic encryption, Federated Learning, Explainable AI, and blockchain technology to ensure transparency and traceability of transactions.

Through the participation of experts from the Research and Innovation department, Ericsson Nikola Tesla played a significant role in the project, particularly by leading activities related to conceptualization, use-case definition and architecture design, developing connectivity with the Copernicus data space, validating confidential computing components within the developed system and preparing final reviews and pilot demonstrations.

According to the European Commission’s final evaluation report, the project fully achieved all planned objectives. Evaluators particularly highlighted its high scientific excellence, strong technical innovation and the successful integration of the platform and its application across multiple pilot scenarios.
Among the project’s most significant achievements were privacy-preserving federated learning systems based on homomorphic encryption, explainable artificial intelligence operating on encrypted data and the secure integration and analysis of data from diverse sources, which reviewers identified as important breakthroughs with significant potential for future application in both research and industry.
The successful completion of the TRUSTEE project represents an important contribution to European initiatives aimed at developing secure data spaces and strengthening digital sovereignty, while confirming the potential of advanced technologies for the secure and responsible use of data across different sectors.
