ENT’s procurement expert: Good procurement does not depend on miracles

April 28, 2026

Nelija Margetić, Business Partner in ENT’s Strategic Sourcing, participated at the two-day event dedicated to procurement, the Adria Procurement Event 2026, held on 23 and 24 April.

This year’s theme, Procurement without filters: from AI in procurement and ESG challenges to negotiation strategies and real-life case studies, brought together experts from Croatia and the region, as well as representatives of the Croatian Association of Procurement.

Nelija Margetić took part in the panel discussion Procurement: everyone wants miracles, but no one asks how held as part of the conference.

Responding to questions about the challenges and dynamics of the procurement profession, Nelija emphasized that procurement must have adequate resources and strong management support in order to provide strategic value to the business. She highlighted that organizations with well-established systems, clear processes, defined responsibilities and high‑quality planning do not need “miracles”, as the expectation of miracles itself indicates a lack of these elements. She added that the absence of escalations and panic is a key characteristic of effective procurement, clearly demonstrating that processes are well‑designed, planning is carried out at a high level and decision‑making responsibilities are transparent. In conclusion, she stressed that the best procurement does not create miracles; rather, it builds, together with internal clients, the conditions in which miracles simply are not needed.
