Automation Summit: artificial intelligence is transforming the way we work, but humans remain accountable
October 19, 2026
Jelena Jurišić, ENT’s Director of Technology, participated as a speaker at this year’s Automation Summit held in Split on 15 and 16 October. During the panel discussion Human in the Loop to Agents in the Loop: Managing the Transition, she addressed the changes brought about by the increasing use of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on the role of humans and accountability in the use of AI agents.
The discussion centered on the transition from a model in which humans directly supervise task execution to one in which AI agents assume an increasingly active role in business processes. Jelena Jurišić emphasized that greater AI autonomy must not lead to a reduction in human accountability.
“People may no longer be directly involved in executing tasks, but accountability for the outcomes must always remain human,” Jurišić stressed.
Speaking about the application of artificial intelligence in software development, she highlighted the importance of rethinking and adapting existing processes rather than simply introducing automation into individual tasks.
“We did not start by asking which tasks artificial intelligence could automate. We started by asking what the software development process should look like if AI agents become part of the engineering team,” Jurišić explained.
This approach enables new forms of collaboration between engineers and AI agents, with artificial intelligence becoming an active participant in development processes, while human accountability for outcomes remains unchanged.
