Wearable technology and Internet of Things
August 2, 2016
The recently published Ericsson ConsumerLab report analyses increasingly important wearable technology. The gaining in importance of this type of technology is confirmed by the fact that 6 out of 10 smartphone users considers that wearable technology can be used for purposes other than health and wellness.
5000 smartphone users in Brazil, China, South Korea, UK and USA (2,500 of whom use wearable technology) were surveyed, representing attitudes of roughly 280 million global smartphone users.
The report demonstrates that users expect a huge wearable market growth after 2020. They also expect wearable technology to replace smartphones and help them to interact with things in the upcoming Internet of Things (IoT) era.
