Zagreb, Osijek, Croatia (Hybrid)
At Ericsson Nikola Tesla, we don’t just follow technology—we shape it. With nearly 3000 professionals, mostly from STEM fields, we’re a powerhouse of innovation built on over 75 years of experience. As the region’s leading R&D center and a leading exporter of software development services, we blend deep expertise with bold ideas—lighting the way toward a more connected, secure, and intelligent future. Beyond our cutting-edge ICT solutions in the telecom sector, we’re also shaping the future in healthcare, transport, public services, and multimedia. Our innovative technologies make a real difference—enhancing everyday life and delivering meaningful value to communities.
We’re looking for a passionate 5G/6G Software Developer to help build the next generation of real-time, low-latency network solutions. You’ll be working on the key software that powers 5G standalone networks, designed from the ground up for high speed, massive connectivity, and ultra-low latency.
Our systems enable 5G advanced capabilities like L4S (Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable Throughput), which are critical for emerging use cases such as:
- Remote driving with sub-10ms round-trip latency, enabling precise vehicle control from miles away
- Cloud gaming with console-grade responsiveness, even under network congestion
- XR applications with smooth frame delivery and minimal motion sickness
- Real-time video calling that adapts dynamically to network conditions for uninterrupted communication
These same low-latency capabilities are also being applied to mission-critical communication systems, supporting secure messaging, emergency alerts, and real-time coordination for field teams and first responders.
You’ll contribute to software that intelligently manages device mobility, optimizes radio parameters, and exposes real-time network metrics to applications, paving the way for differentiated service tiers and network slicing.
Why it matters:
At 100 km/h, a human reaction takes ~30 meters. With 1ms latency, a remote system can respond in under 3 cm. That’s the kind of precision we’re enabling, where milliseconds define safety, immersion, and performance.
From architecture to deployment, you’ll be part of a team delivering software used by hundreds of millions of users globally, designed to meet the demands of tomorrow’s connected world.
Location: Zagreb, Osijek
What you’ll be doing:
- Participate in pre-design activities
- Document and communicate technical solutions
- Design and implement features using C, C++, Git, and Gerrit
- Develop and execute tests using Python, Erlang and gMock
- Validate features through customer activities and feedback
- Analyze and resolve bugs based on real-world usage
We are looking for:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.
- Passion for software development and proficiency in any programming language.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Interest in working on large-scale, performance-critical system
We offer:
You won’t just work on cutting-edge technology—you’ll be part of a team that values your ideas, supports your growth, and makes sure you enjoy the journey along the way. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Smooth start – a company laptop, and a mobile phone with great plan
